I'm replacing my broken flip up towing mirrors with electric/heated mirrors. The wiring harness is in the doors, so the switch and mirrors are simple enough to hook up. However, my truck doesn't have the integral switch on the AC/heat control for the heating elements. Anyone have a suggestion on how to wire a switch to the system? And last but not least, does anyone have a source for a 12v timed switch that will cut off after 15 mins like the oem switch?

TIA Tom

When I rewired mine, I just used a lighted toggle switch, and mounted it the door panel, just below the power mirror switch. I used a test light and found a power wire from the harness behind the panel, power to one terminal, ground to another, and the black wires from the heated mirrors to the last terminal. Works great.

If you find out anything about the timed circut, let me know please.

wyosteve,

I did the '03 power/heated transplant.

Thanks Rob. I haven't read the directions yet, but generally how hard was it to do the mounting plate change from the 01's to the 03?

wyosteve, I don't tow that much so I'm going w/ some reg. oem elec/heat mirrors.

Rob, thanks for the tip on the toggle switch. If I have time I'll do a search on switches and try to find a timed switch and post it back here.
