Attention: TDR Forum Junkies Has anyone done a conversion of changing from outside manual tow mirrors to outside electric tow mirrors?
I have a "plain-Jane" (ST) truck with manual outside (tow) mirrors and manual window cranks. I would like to upgrade to electric outside tow mirrors on my ST truck.
I have found out that the door panels are different between an SLT and an ST and that the door panels for the SLT with mirror switch will not fit on the door panel of the ST truck due to a conflict with the manual window crank.
Doing an online search, I found a Dorman mirror switch (used on several models of Fords) that will probably fit on my door panels and not conflict with the manual window cranks. However, I still have the issue of the wiring harness. Factory electric mirrors would be a direct change-over and the Dorman switch looks like it would work, but what would I need to do to make the wiring work?
Maybe this is another upgrade that Robert Patton would want to look at for his black "plain-Jane" truck?
