Anyone ever have their seat motor stop working? My up/down back motor stopped a few months ago, front up/down and front to back work fine. All wiring is OK.

How much for the part and about how long a job - do it yourselfer. Is it a DC only part (probably) and was it in stock.

Thanks

FYI - The TSB was helpful. The motor was stuck. Once freed it still didn't run, it was trying like crazy but, just wouldn't. I called the local Dodge dealer for replacement. "I will be very nice here". I was informed that there isn't a replacement motor. It only comes as an assy. It wasn't in stock and listed for $570:--), my cost $357:--) :--) . I asked the parts guy if he was kidding he told me these units are designed by someone making 500k/year that could care less if my seat worked or not. I declined.

Pulled the motor apart cleaned and lubed everything up. Connected it to power (not connected mechanically to the seat) and it ran slowly for about 10 seconds and stopped:mad: So I set it at the lowest height and reinstalled it.

Looks like it's off to the junkyard, unless someone has one they can sell me or can help locate a replacement. It's the hi/low for the rear of the seat, 11/98 manufacture date.

FREAKING RIDICULOUS!!! :mad: :mad: :{

FREAKING RIDICULOUS!!! You got that right, I think the whole 6-way seat option was about $600. 00 on a new truck. Maybe it won't be too hard to find one in the wrecking yard, they are probably all the same. Good luck. bg

Same thing happened on my 98. 5... ... ... . You are right on about the dealer, they wanted lots of $$$$ and said they only would replace the assembly. Instead of contributing to the insanity, I just manually adjusted the gear up to highest point and left it there. Better than the cost of an entire assembly IMHO... ... .....

My 2Cents,

Mike
