I've gone to 2 RV stores and can't find the prodigy trailer box.

TDR members speak highly of this brake controler.

Does anyone know where I can buy this box online for a reasonible price?

Or do you recommend another box.

Thanks

Here is where I got mine a while back. http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=20535&src=SRQZ

I think the Prodigy is the best electric brake controller on the market and I have used it for some time. While it is very good, I just upgraded to the BrakeSmart controller, which is a GREAT system and noticably superior to the Prodigy. It is connected to the brake hydraulic system and is directionally proportional to brake hydraulic pressure. It is relatively easy to install and very easy to set up and use. It will not affect the ABS. It is also considerably more expensive than the Prodigy but I think it is well worth the extra expense. You can read about it at http://www.brakesmart.net.

If you want the best buy Brakesmart. It has a pressure sensor you put on the master cylinder that senses the braking pressure you are applying. So when you brake a little the trailer brakes a little. And when you brake hard so does the trailer. You set the gain once and forget about it.

After having mine for 1. 5 years the manual braking lever

was getting a little sticky so I called them last week to see if

they would fix it. They sent me a new one and return postage

for the old one. No better service than that.

thanks to all the replies

I'll have that new controler

I will ck out brakesmart before choosing.

gerry - how do u like the 05 jetta?

mine is still going strong but looking to trade next yr. or so

electrical gremils haunt the glow plugs and alarm system, other than that it's been real good car 45- 50 mpg and 175,000 miles strong

I got mine at the local NAPA. Any electric contoller can be touchy at times, especially towing different weights; in the bed; off the bumper etc like I do, but they are easily adjusted to your preference and overall do a nice job for the money.

One thing a lot of people forget to check is the integrity of the trailer brakes and instantly look at the contoller as the problem source!

$349 including shipping and that includes the Dodge wiring harness and control head. I have tried Kelsey Hayes, Voyager, Sentinal and Prodigy. Plus some others I can't even remember. For performance, predicability and sheer braking power the BrakeSmart beats them all. In fairness I have not tried the Jordan. Of course you do pay for that performance but I feel it is worth it. It just feels like the truck and trailer are a single unit. I replaced my Prodigy with the BrakeSmart while on a camping trip this fall and I could tell the difference as soon as I pulled out of my campsite. FWIW

Another great thing about the BrakeSmart is that you can mount the control head anywhere you can run the cable - any position or angle. I mounted mine in front of the transfer case shifter angled up about 60 degrees or so. It is out of the way, easy to read and easy to reach.

Prodigy or Brakesmart? I would have done the brakesmart, but I wanted the brakesmart controller with the pyro in it and there was no line date available. Money wasn't the issue. I think I found the best price on the Prodigy at J's, and then got the killer deal through a friend. After running it on about 6 trips now, I couldn't imagine anything better. I might not even upgrade to the Brakesmart if it becomes available with the pyro. Prodigy is a good controller.
