Before we left on another 3 month excursion I put an 8 " electric fan in front of my 68 RFE transmission cooler as they tend to get a little warm in stop and creep when towing about 14,000 behind it. I just put a manual switch in and would flip it on when the transmission hit 200 deg. It worked well it would keep it there or drop it about 4 degrees. i figure it was worth the time and effort to install it. Spare me any any smug AISEN responses . I have 20,000 towing miles over just about every mountain range and desert clime with zero problems with this transmission it works just fine!:D

So the real question is.... are you happy with the fan by its self... . did you consider and additional cooler and a filter... just a thought...

I had at least 50K on this AMZ/OIL fluid at time of trade to my 15. Looks good to me. Never had a bit of heating with the 68RFE. It saw it get to 230 in stop n go traffic in Palm Springs but that sure did not hurt the oil.

I figured that a thirty dollar fan was a cheaper investment and it worked well. Never saw over 210 in stop and go summertime traffic . You have to loosen the radiator to squeeze it in just don't get too big of a fan. I used an 8 "
