Intake vs. Exhaust for EGT reduction

Can your exhaust be too big?

After much investigation and plenty of walks through the local junk yards, I finally installed electric fans. here's my last post on this topic: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=94194

They came from 2 1988 Buick Park Avenues and each have a diameter of 18". It is a tight fit but after some fabrication and "modification" of the shroud they will fit. Right now only 1 is wired as I'm waiting for another relay to come in at Radio Shack. The current set up uses a toggle switch but that will change as soon as I find a place to mount a coolant temp switch - Please post any ideas. Also I thought about tieing in to the AC clutch but I'm not sure I want the fan to cycle on & off with the clutch. I could use some suggestions to wire that too.

Here are some suggestions

I have 3 fans total the main fan is out of a Jeep Liberty its an 18" diameter fan Its a puller and is mounted where the fan clutch was. I also have 2 1000cfm pushers on the outside,Its a tight fit with the hood closed but it does fit. Pep boys has relays that have sensors that are adjustable. One relay controlls the big fan its relay and sensor are mounted in the fins of the radiator it kicks on at 190deg. The 2 pushers are controlled by a seperate relay. The temp. sensor is screwed into a water passage, this is the relay that also controls the A/C. I have it connected to the A/C clutch cause I want to keep the A/C pressures down. This relay is also set to kick on if I need more cooling,it kicks on at 195deg. You could install a Dodge pressure switch on to your high side port and use it to controll this same relay with pressure rather than with the A/C clutch. I think the Dodge pressure switch closes at 275psi. You might have to order it for an early Caravan pre 95. Hope this is some help. Merv
