just wandered if any one has tried any electric radiator fans on there truck the only ones I have found that list the dodge with cummin is the flex a lite number 290 I just wandered I might try one out but wanted some input on these pro cons ect. thanks

I have often wondered the same thing regarding the cooling system. I'll keep a watch on what is your feedback from the posting. Dipstick

My Suburban has a 2nd Gen radiator and 3rd Gen engine/6-speed, and I used the FAL #284 fan (Duramax  ) fans. I recently pulled our 25' travel trailer over White Pass in WA (sections of 6% grade over a 15 mile stretch).

Never passed the 1/2 way mark on the temp gauge... so, it stayed under 200. I'm running Evan's waterless coolant and synthetic oil in case there is ever a temp excursion but thus far, even in 100 degree weather, I haven't managed to get one.

FAL says model 284 is good up to 18,000 GVW - so if you're a *real* hauler some care may be required.

I went with the FAL 290 on my Conversion and have not had any overheating issues. I have not towed heavy with it yet though.

thanks guys that is some good feed back I drag race my truck plus use it for work I pull about 3,000 pound daily the most I have ever pulled is about 6,000lbs which is my lake michigan boat I mainly want to change it because on hot day at the drag strip it suck to run with the fan engaged it slows my times to much.

I have a horton and it has only come on a dozen times in 8 years, unless I'm running the a/c.

Horton has discontinued this setup for the B Series Cummins in our trucks... ... andy

I added a pusher fan to blow more air over the A/C coils in city traffic. Removing the pulley fan *might* work in cooler climates where the temperature rately exceeds 99F. It was 116F here today, and the OEM fan came in sort of handy.

I always heard it's the humidity and not the heat... . :-laf

It's 92 already with another 8 hours of sunshine to go.

Flexlite

I talked to Bob at Flexlite today and they are right now testing a kit for 1994-2002 Dodge's. On three trucks in three area's.

If all test well kit will be ready 01/2007

I ran without a fan for the last 3 or 4 years. I put it on prior to traveling to IRP this year (Chicago traffic) and I'll leave it on until I get back from Terre Haute. Chicago traffic is the only place I've had problems but traffic around here keeps moving and driving in town isn't a problem.

I installed the Flex-A-Lite monstor electric (universal mount) in my rig back in April works great. Made my own mounting brackets screws right up to the stock shroud locations.
