ANyone running electric fan(s) on their truck? How much CFM of air is required?

What brand are u using?where from? how much $? was it worth it? SIngle or double fans? how easy/hard to install and wire? How do u have them wired, set to come on at temp, a/c, do u have an over ride switch or switch to turn the fans on in addition to kicking on themselves? ANy mileage gains from the electric vs the stock. How hard are they on the electrical system?

I dont tow very often and when I do it is usually less than 10K. Dont haul much either but when I do it is usually all the truck can hold.

I would kind of like to stay away from Horton due to the fall out with DC.

Thanks in advance.

I have researched this also. I think that if you are not towing anything, then it's not a bad idea. There are some nice models that pull 2700 cfm. I will get one soon.

i run electric fans on my 69 charger. they do alright but i'm not sure if they handle cooling the cummins when towing. i think you'd need a combo of pusher and puller fans. personally, i won't be installing electric fans on my truck. the cost is going to be substantial to obtain enough cfm to be trustworthy in the dead of summer and you may experience overheating problems when towing. then again, i'm sure somebody has done it and it has worked well for them. i'm learly though... .

Kid, Flex-a-lite model 290 flows twice that amount you listed.

Also, my weak, small, cheap electric fans have been on for nearly 2 years, towing, hills, dead of summer, drag racing, sled-pulling, and no overheating issues yet, even at 450+hp, BUT I don't live in the mountains either.

EDIT: I might also add, I have no particular reason why I went to electric fans in the first place, I have noticed no pros nor cons. The stock fan works fine, probably even better. I may have just been bored, itchin' for somethin' to do, or just wanted to be different, or hell, maybe it was because most people said " you can't run electric fans on a diesel". Whatever the reason, I have no regrets, and it made my body-lift that much easier to install. :D Oh yea, I know why I did it, the belt is way easier to replace! ;)
