I can hear my fan clutch going out and was wondering if any one has ever put electric fans on a cummins inplace of the stock fan. I know they put off alot of heat and cooling is a priority. If you have please share the detals.

An electric fan with enough power would be prohibitively expensive and large. Your only option is a stock replacement or a Horton clutch.

JLEONARD: Check your back issues, there was an article somewhere that explained why electric fans are impractical. To turn the fan at high engine speeds would require an electric motor that would put out upwards of 20hp. That would be extremely large and expensive.

CB,

I know a guy that is installing an electric fan. A dual set-up. I know of people that remove their fans and run that way in all but summer months.

That makes me think an electric is do able.

If your working the truck hard... . no way. But as a daily commuter like I use mine... I think it would work... . hey, I don't have an intercooler blocking MY radiator!

:D
