Has anyone looked into the electric fuel pump Part # E-7153 from Parts America. Com, or any electric fuel pump that is supposed to be for 1996 Dodge 4x2-5. 9 Turbo Diesel. Any imformation about it would be apprecieated as I would like to change from a mechanical to electric.

Why? The mechanical is almost bullet proof. It also increases fuel flow as RPM increases. An electric fuel pump won't do that.

I would stick with the mechanical pump. You could put a electric supply pump on to feed the lift pump though. But whatever you do I wouldnt eleminate the lift pump.

I run the Fass 180 for a 12V. Very noisy, but it will run at about 55PSI. I use the aeromotive regulator to dial it down to about 30 psi at idle. I put the elctric on for safety. It is hooked to my kill swtich that kills the fuel solenoid and my FASS.

Thanks for the info guys, you have changed my mind for me. I had forgot that the mech pump pressure varies compared to constant flow from electric.

Thanks again.

One other thing is to make sure you check your fuel pressure @ wide open throttle. A friends truck was 25-30 psi @ idle and the same @ 2000rpm unloaded then dropped to about 10psi @ WOT under load.

My '95 stays above 30 PSI almost all the time including WOT. A recent experience with a failing overflow valve showed that it will run ok at highway speeds at 6 PSI. Since I replaced the OF valve with one from TST it will idle above 30 PSI (35+ cold, abt 30 warm) and is always above 40 PSI at highway speeds. My fuel pressure gauge is pegged at 40.
