I HAVE INSTALLED SEVERAL CARTER PUSHER PUMPS ON

12 VALVES LATELY AND THE RESULTS ARE NICE!

THE ENGINE IS SMOOTHER SMOKES LESS AND CRANKS

IN COLD WEATHER BETTER. THE QUESTION WAS WILL

THE ELECTRIC PUMP SUPPLY ENOUGH FUEL AT HIGH RPM'S?

THE DYNO SHOWS IT WORKS UP TO 3800 RPM.

IT'S A LOT OF BANG FOR THE BUCK IN MY OPINION!

UNDER $100 IMPROVEMENTS ARE RARE!:D

Good news Jeff:

How do you void the stock lift pump? I like the idea as 3000 is as for as I go on the RPM's. I would like to know I didn't have to rely a mechical lift pump. I have already replaced one and possibably not a good one now. Tell us more. Also where would you install a pressure gauge with this setup?

Good job.

YOU LEAVE THE STOCK MECHANICAL LIFT PUMP IN PLACE .

THE ELECTRIC PUMP TAKES THE LOAD OFF OF THE STOCK

PUMP AND REALLY SMOOTHES OUT THE IDLE AND THROTTLE

RESPONSE!

IT'S THE SAME PUSHER KIT AS IN THE TDR ARTICLE

FOR THE 24 VALVE

One good thing is you still have the stock lift pump in place if the electric pusher fails, unlike the 24 valve trucks.

Beware Jeff, I think it was Ted Jannety who tried this on a 12 valve. The extra pressure blew out the gaskets on the stock lift pump and fuel heater, they're not designed for the pressure. He ended up having to bypass the heater, remove the lift pump and block off the hole in the engine block with a metal plate. I personally don't see much advantage to this unless you are very heavily bombed for racing.

Jeff2, It sounds like there are other problems if the stock fuel pumps can't even keep up with an idling engine! How does another pump make it crank better? Craig

the mechanical pump gives the pump pressure spikes

and gets a lot of air in the fuel.

i have one on my truck two years and no problems. :)

Don't tell Sickly or he will want more toys. He still has the stock lift pump and fuel feed lines/filter.

Maybe I'll need to go to bigger lines, etc. if I want to make real hp, like 900 (on the Dynojet scale, not the mr. nonp. scale).

The smoother idle, etc. sounds good, but first I have to measure fuel pressure under load. I haven't bothered yet, figuring if I still have some smoke, I must have fuel  A good idea that should be tried, but I don't know yet if there is a big problem to be solved.
