Anybody ever install a power sunroof in your Ram? Was it a custom job, or a kit? What all is involved? Where can you buy the "kit"? Thanks in advance, Jim.

I don't have time right now, but if you'd like I can dig up some info I came up with while researching this myself.

The price, installed by a certified dealer (take that FWIW), was $700. This came with a lifetime leak-free warranty. This was for a completely power sunroof that moved up and back to completely open up to the sky.

Check this old thread out.

There were some nice pics of a 1500 with a sunroof. but they are no longer.

They did look nice though... . It is not custom and they make it for all kinds of applications (including our rams). I believe they ran about a grand.

good luck

Guys,

C. R. Lawrence is a aftermarket window manufacturer. They make a electric sunroof for our Rams. They also make a trick sliding rear window... ... ... power slider... ... Very cool.

I'll check on pricing Monday and post what I find... ... ... . If it's not a ton of cash I'll be puttin' one of these bad boys in myself.

Eric

Ok-Want to bring this back to the top... ... Does anyone else have any info? Would really like a decent sunroof, especialy now that the weather's getting nice! Thanks, Jim.

What I found interesting about the last set of links was that Webasto's (the engine heater folks) name is on these sunroofs?

I also would like an electric sunroof, my problem is they cut the cross brace out of the roof. That makes me nervous, the people at the installation [Auto Trim Design] place say no problem, they want a sale, so I don't know to believe them or not. Any thoughts? Thank you, Ed.

On the Chevy install shown on Trucks! the guy cautioned not to push on the roof after the support braces were cut, said you could bend the roof and never get it back to normal. He went on to say that after the sunroof frame was installed that the roof was just as strong as it was before cutting.

Just think of how a submarine hatch is designed. Had one installed in wife's car and the roof was much stronger after install.

Let the sunshine in!!!!

Thanks for the kind words Kat!!!I tried to post yesterday, but no go... I do have a full automatic sun roof in my truck and was installed approx. 1 year ago. . It was done by a company in Salt Lake City "auto trim design" . They are the licensed instalers for the "asc" brand which is factory standard. . There are 350 distributors nationally and I would recommend you find one in your area who is a licensed sales and service center. Cost at the time was around $950. 00.

The roof fully opens, vent tilts, and closes automatically if you want when you turn off the key. They have a lifetime warranty & several options available.

And NO they don't leak...

Steve

P. S. Please don't install one as I want to be different!!!!! :D
