While waiting for my manual to arrive, so I can properly start working on my cruise/brake light problem, I have something else to try and fix. I have posted before about some "issues" I'm having with this '97 3500 I purchased last week. Here is another little problem I am having, dealing with the electric window control on drivers armrest. It wouldnt work the drivers side, and only intermittantly would work the passenger side. Locks work fine. I figured I needed a new switch, so I ordered one. In the meantime, I thought I would do some checking on the switch itself, so I removed the "cup" where you grip the door to shut it, thus allowing me to access the window switch. I pushed a screwdriver in the side of the window switch opening, and depressed the plastic tab allowing me to pull the switch out completely. What I have found out, is if I press the wiring module firmly into the switch and hold it there, all windows work correctly. When I releave the pressure, then only the drivers side window will operate. There is just a "minute" amount of play, from where the wiring module, with tab, snaps into the "button switch" assembly. If I could find some way to keep it pressed in at all times, the window will work. Tape will hold for awhile, but not for long. There isnt anything inside the window to allow the pressure, ie, maybe placing a block or something inside to push against the wiring module. So, aside from maybe "supergluing" the wiring module to the "button switch" assembly, I dont have any ideas. Do any of you? My son ordered a "switch" for the window when he was in town last week, I have no idea if Im getting the "module" that plugs into the wiring harness or the plate with the buttons on it. Any suggestions?

I haven't had mine open yet but have worked on lot these so maybe my generic info will help some until some other answers show up,the most comon problums are loosing ground to system, wires braking in door jam to door, and switchs, see if you can get ahold of wiring diagram to help look for problum, find were ground for system is,then look at harness in jam try to get to individual wires and pull a little on each wire between door and jam , if there is a little give the wire has seperated and you'r streaching the insulation the wire if good will not, then the switches can get burned contacts and not make conection if you can get the switch apart clean with sandpaper, I've done this and had it last years, as you have discribe it would seem to be the switch or conection to module try some contact cleaner but be sure that it is safe for plastic, I got some from radio shack and it melted all the plastic.

Maybe locktite?

You'd have to de grease it, and I'm not sure if it even works on copper or brass connections, you'd have to find out.

I guess there's no room for a small wire wrap in there... ...

Just thinkin out loud... ... ... ... ... .
