I wish I could add insight here, because right now I am having the exact same problem. This is on the club cab w-350 I have. Other weird electrical problems that I have are, the horn is unplugged because when you plug it in and use it it works fine, until after a few times, it blows out the running lights fuse :rolleyes:, my stereo has an amp that drives the two subwoofers I have in the back, at first, I thought this was the amp, now I am not sure, but when it is cold out, the amp acts like it isn't getting a signal to turn on, or has an internal problem that does not let it turn on, and get this folks the amp turns off when I use my turn signals, then turns back on after a moment. Oh, another one, if you run the power windows up or down and hold the button, the dash lights glow brighter like a surge #@$%!

I have cleaned all of the grounds, checked the connector on the computer, cleaned it, I just don't know what is up, I hope that it isn't just two of us with electric nightmares, but it is annoying to have to wait, to get the wait to start light to work.

Thanks,

Russell

Start another thread on this problem. Lets not try to chase down two different trucks in the same thread.

Do not worry. I'll be right over there or catch me in the chat room at night. 1st gen room of couse.

:D

Philip, Moved sensor for coolant curcuit into "normal" position in the intake. Was able to retape the wiring harness to reach the new sensor position. When driving, no WTS flashing. New sensor on the way anyway for Monday from Cummins. Moved plug to head. My father paid a stealer about $300 a year or so ago to fix this problem, of course they didn't. Maybe they couldn't find the sensor either, like me. I truly do not belive they would have move this sensor, I think it came from Cummins or Dodge that way. Like I stated earlier this was probably one of the first off the line (9/88) and it was just a production start-up problem. Anyway, the truck has not always done this so I think the sensor is the problem, it is moved to its "proper" postion, and a final report will be posted when the new sensor is installed.

My thoughts also. It was put together wrong. But when someone payed to have the problem found. They should have caught it then. One thing I would do. See if you have the invoice on the no repair ticket. Print this out and go see if you can get your money back.

If I can help you on a long distance repair. Why didn't "they " find it. Were "they" afraid they would get their hands dirty.

"they"= service dept.

Problem solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay folks, in the blinding wind and cold, I figured out what is wrong, and what causes the WTS light to flash and not engage the grid relays or engage them late. The truck's computer, I was about to put money on it, but I know my luck. I swapped out the computer from my 1-ton dump also a 1992 to my pick-up, the one with the flashing WTS light among other electrical problems. Guess what??? My truck now charges, WTS light operates just like it is suppose to, my amp for the stereo acts right, it is like having a new truck :D :D. Only problem, that the computer out of my dump truck doesn't support cruise control DOH! Oh well, starting and charging are the major issues, now resolved :)

BTW, IF you need a computer, word to the wise... ... junk yard. You can buy one new, but, they have to be built, you must wait 4-7 weeks, and the price tag is upward of $750. 00 yikes. Checked into it when the charging system took a dump a couple years ago.

Hope this helps,

Russell

I just read this thread and was going to read them all before I posted. I knew by the sound of things that the Computer was the charging problem, along with everything else. When you made the mention of the the turn signal episode. I have a 92' D350 and it would not charge, grid heater would not work, speedo wouldn't work, cruise wouldn't work, etc. Only every once in a while though when I used my left turn signal, the speedo would momentarily work. I thought it was dumb luck or I was just dumb. So anyways after getting scared at the stealer over the computer price. I called everywhere. Low and behold Autozone can get them. They will need to have the numbers off your old computer and you will have to turn it in as a core. When I bought mine this time last year, it was around $180. And they had it next day. I normally don't like Auto Zones electrical stuff, but when you are saving $600, hey. It also comes with a 90 day warranty. Hope this helps. Bill
