Okay coming back from work this am, got within a few miles of home and notice my tag lights and what appeared to be backup lights were on, take in mine im moving forward. Get home and inspect, turn on park lights with engine off, i hear sizzling, im like okay this isn't good, im thinking bare wire, well after looking and finding smoke coming from the wire loom that runs from the left rear tail light and connect on that side of the frame. .

Diagnosis: wire loom full of mud, grit... . black and yellow striped wire burned in half, purple wire coating melted about the size of match head spot and unrecognizable third wire(color that is) also appears to have a melted coating spot... .

Could a ground problem have caused this, was raining this morning and rained hard last night at work, could it be that water found its way into my tail light and caused a short, take in mind with the park lights on, my rear backup lights are on also(the clear lens) im guessing that was from the electrical short where the wires in the wire loom were melted together

Okay just an update and a little FYI, got that problem fixed and shouldn't have another problem with it at all. As for you guys that live in dirt roads or in alot of muck, if you haven't checked those wire harness's it might just save you a headache. . Check for frayed or getting ready to break wires, thats what happened to mine the hot wire broke in half, had to be from age as it was a clean break...

picked up some connectors and some heat shrink today, going to go over the truck, also picked up 8 feet of wire loom 1/2 inch.
