My buddy's 1999 24v truck has an electrical problem. While driving down the freeway on cruise control, all of a sudden the cruise disengaged, the ABS light came on, the Parking Brake light came on, and the Speedometer became inoperative. All of this happened simultaneously. Anyone know which relay or fusible link or what other part may have failed? Truck still runs and drives fine, but has all of the above malfunctions. We appreciate your help.

I had that happen to my '99 last month. Problem turned out to be the switch on the brake pedal. The switch had moved out of place because the plastic tab that held it into the chassis under the dash had broken. I had previously checked my speed sensor wiring and plug and found no problem.

It was a fluke that I discovered the broken switch. I was working on installing a new stereo system and had the dash apart when I spotted the switch out of place. Once I tie-strapped it back in place everything worked again. . ABS light was out... Cruise worked. It is the switch that the brake pedal engages when the pedal is 'up'.

Let us know what it turns out to be in your case. .

My friend picked up a new speed sensor and is attempting to install same. Took off the retaining bolt and the sensor is still stuck in place. Is it threaded or does it just have a stuck O-ring or what? He says it's made of some kind of hard plastic and he doesn't want to just start reefing on it for fear of braking it off in the housing. Any ideas? Also, Chris if this doesn't work he's gonna check out the brake switch you mentioned. Thanks. I'll keep you posted.....

I would check the brake switch first, just incase that is the problem you won't have to remove the speed sensor... just my $. 02

To get the speed sensor out you have to twist it and pull REALLY hard straight up if I remember correctly. This is assuming you have undone the nut and removed metal retaining bracket.
