After 14 weeks , I finally got my '07 Chassis Cab and installed my body. I installed new LED lights on the body and wired it to the original tail light pigtails . I did not use the frame as a ground. I ground through the harness. Both sides are wired seperaetly to their original plug on truck harness. All lights work properly, but I get a chime when the turn signals are used or brake pedal is pushed. The overhead displays LR & RR turn signals out . Are the LED's the problem, due to low draw ? I will be insalling the hitch next week and would like this problem solved before wiring the trailer plug. Does anyone have a color code for the 5' harness @ the rear of the truck as it is my understanding that is what to use for trailer plug. Dodge should send that info with the truck. It is very annoying to drive with the chime and I have to make an 800 mile trip on sunday. Any help will be appreciated. Oh ya I called my dealer a week ago and I'm still waiting for help.

Thanks,

Jim

The LEDs do not have a high enough draw, hence the computer thinks you have a lamp out. Most folks wire a resister in to simulate a higher draw. I don't know what size resister you need, but if you have a meter, you can measure the draw of the old bulb and use that figure to size your resister.

being forced to add a resister kind of defeats one of the Pros of LED's where they use less energy, but it will trick the ECM into seeing the load it expects. The resister goes parralel to (not in line or series) the light bulb. Only problem then is if the LED goes out the ecm might not know!

I think I remember reading something about it on the body builders web site, but I can't remember the link. Maybe someone else will post it. I can't remember is there was a Fix for this through coding on the ECM?

LED Draw

My 85 Pete turn signals would act funny when I had all LED on the truck and trailer. I wired a plain old sealed 3 way light out of sight on each side to draw enough current to make it work correctly. Would make it harder for the truck to tell you there was a lamp out but thats what pre-trip inspections are for. As far as LED pros and cons they look cool what else do ya need?
