1993 Dodge

Just had a question - my headlights go off and the amp meter shows a lot of draw and it makes a clicking noise like a circuit breaker is going off and on and it does it with the key shut off. But if you disconnect the wire loom at the firewall it does not do it Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

There is a built in circut breaker in the head lamp switch, it sounds like it is cycling, so that means there is a short in the head lamp wiring some where in the engine compartment.

Look under dash where wiring harness may be running across sharp metal stiffners or brackets and may have chaffed through.
