Greg:

You can sneak a pair of needle nose pliers in the ends of the connectors and tighten them up by squeezing the rounded parts down towards the flat side. Or you can take the nut off of the top, remove the double spade terminal, put ring terminals on the wires and reinstall the nut.

Tim, Thats what I figgered. I would like to soldier the new connections as opposed to crimping them on. My Wife has a really handy little cordless soldiering tool that would be perfect for that application. That and a little shrink tube and another bug bites the dust! GregH

New Connection, no start

Yesterday I installed a new female bayonet fitting on the blue wire to the fuel shutoff solenoid. Tried to start it. No start. Had to get a lot of slack from the wireing harness. The gray wire is next, but I am taking a SWAG that the electrical problem is in that engine wiring harness! How many mA or amps does it take to open that solenoid? Need to set my new meter in the correct range. The starter turns the motor over quite smartly. It seems that my water in fuel light is on constantly also. New fuel filter. GregH

PCM Blues

The PCM in your truck doesn't do much for you. It monitors the intake manifold temperature and the water in fuel sensor and turns on the lights on the dash as necessary and runs the crusie control unit. But on manual trucks thats about it. On automatic trucks it controls the shift to OD in the transmission. The voltage regulator circuit is supplied via a fusible link through the ignition switch. Have you checked the igniton switch and its wiring for melted wires or connectors as this was a problem on the older versions? You also have 12 volt dash gauges but these are completely harwired, thus not part of the PCM. I may have a spare 91. 5 automatic transmission PCM at the house. Hope this helps Ken Irwin

78 cummin-wagon. This is not an easy swap as the sending units are different between these model years. The dash wiring to make this work is going to be a nightmare. Ken Irwin

Does anyone know where I can get electrical schematics for a 91. 5 Dodge/Cummins?

I’ve got problems with a 91. 5 as well, no start after moving my truck from the front of the house to the rear.

Following a path of Murphy’s,

including the previous owner had a bunch of wires from the battery tied up in a wire nut!

I think the same guy also put in the wiring for the brake controller. #@$%!

If someone would like to pass on the diagrams, it would surely be appreciated! :)

Don, Fer some unexplained reason your e-mail address is not acceptable to send mesages with attachments. Will try a HELLO without attachments. Have been having problems with my DSL modem. Have a replacement but it is not installed as yet. Dont want to use foreign nationals during the setup. Meantime, will try the greeting to see if that will go through. GregH

GHarman,

Nope, it’s all good.

Your Hello came thru at 6:42PM

and the rest started at 6:54 PM

Only got to the computer at midnight but had some business to tie up first.

Thank You ! Thank You ! Thank You ! Oo.

Much different than what I had, I will start when I get up tomorrow. (later today ;) )

If I cant make it work, I’ll start a new thread to ask for help,

and to describe what I’ve done so far.....

Thank You !

(again)

Don
