Same Here

I had almost the same thing happen to me with less than 500 mi on the clock. I didn't lose all that you did but almost. After much searching, we found a BIG connector under the dash about half apart. The lazy dummies didn't put it together far enough for the safety catch on one end to snap in place. Plugged it in right and bingo... everything works. At 3500 mi. the passenger 8-way seat lumbar would't deflate. Pulled switch apart. . you guessed it. . same thing, not plugged in to safety catch. If you haven't already done so, check ALL connectors. BTW. . my truck was made in Mo. , so much for USA QC... ... ... ... Howard

thanks grandpappy! friend had similar problem with his 2k 3/4 gasser. didn't recall lossing as much, but definitly speedo and trip comp. dealer replaced cruise control module$$$ and all was fine. hobbled on batt to dealer. of course holiday rush, wont diagnose

till thur.

I check conectors/wiring to PCM.

Looks like everthing that went out is monitored by the PCM.

Could be ignition switch also. There is a seperate wire that powers up PCM or at least in the 96 Ram there is.

fyi: dealer replaced pcm. dealer said pcm failed internally. hopefully this is a rare incident. thanks for the replies all.

Same Problem...

RK,

Looks like mine will have the same thing done today. Found this thread after I got home. Dealer said it was fine to drive. Just no indications on the gages. It gave the same exact codes as yours. I reset every connector I could find. Of course mine is about 4 months and 4K out of warranty.

Update

This one of those good news - bad news type deals. More good than bad in this case.

Dealer just called to let me know that my entire instrument cluster had died and required replacement. Just out of the 3/36 warranty wouldn't you know... but I had purchased an extended 5/100 warranty and had forgotten about it:D The cluster costs over a thousand bones:eek: but is entirely covered by my extended warranty. I guess I'm living right.

BTW, Jim's Dodge Country has treated me well on this one... no questions about anything... see sig block:D

Update #2

Took the pickup into the dealer today for the changeout of the instrument cluster. No problems... maybe. Got the thing home and noticed that there was "dark hole" just below the fuel quantity guage. Couldn't remember seeing one on my old cluster. Upon closer inspection, noted that the "dark hole" is where the LED indicator for an auto trans gear position is supposed to show through. I have a 5spd... Called the dealer back and they want to look at it tomorrow morning. They may have "put in the wrong part". All the guages work just fine... hope they just forgot to put a "blocker" in the darn hole. I'll furnish the details tomorrow evening...
