Several months ago there was a thread about the electronic idle control from Diesel Services Group in Canada. I finally broke down and ordered the equipment, and looked at it sitting on the shelf for another month, and finally installed it yesterday. Following is a brief rundown or the installation.
Installation time was 3. 5 hours, my skills are average.
No special tools are needed, but you will need:
Electric drill w/ 1/2" bit
Soldering gun and solder
wire ties (in addition to those supplied)
Rubber gromet for going thru the fire wall
A drop of liquid soap for pulling 5 wires wire thru gromet.
Wire cutters/strippers
Wire crimper
Lots of patience
The instructions are complete
My views:
The instructions are pretty good, but it is a very involved project.
After reading the instructions, look very closely at the diagram for hook up of the speed control servo. There are several duplications of wire color and it can be confusing.
Also hooking up the servo is difficult for someone with big hands. I expected the servo to be mounted on the fender, under the drivers side battery tray, howerver on my '99 it is under but attached to the battery tray. I had to enlist my wife with her small hands to get it hooked back up.
The large size of the box installed under the dash was a little problem for me due to several other additions I've made (turbo saver and dealer installed alarm system) and I ended up mounting the box on the fire wall with velcro to the right of the foot throttle.
The unit works very well, is set up to interface with a remote start system with a built in engage delay.
I think any one with a need for an idle control will be happy with this one, I replaced a Vernier twist control.
One thing I don't like, other than the wire color duplications, is the speed control toggle switch, its a little crude, and I'll be looking for a replacement.

If you decide to go for this, it is:

I tried to answer Friday but the site was shut down for service while I was at it. There were at the time two questions and one was lost in the shuffle, so I'll answer both:
No I'm not a dealer, the price was 220. 00 US$ plus $30 shipping including US customs duty.
The second question how does it work:
It hooks up and operates through the cruise control but supplies its own controls. A push button to engage, and a double pole momentary toggle switch to raise or lower idle RPM.
There is the capability of interfacing system with a remote start kit, therefore there is about a 10 second delay at engagement to allow for the oil pressure to come up.
I've used the system for three days now, not long term, but it sure beats my old Vernier hand throttle.

I work at UPS and we rented some ISB powered Ford F750's for our Christmas rush. I had to check them out and I saw that they had a small up/down rocker switch on the dash for idle speed. I started it up and pushed the switch several times upward. The idle would go as high 1100 RPM in increments. The set up looks "all Cummins". It is surely controled by the ECM as this truck didn't have cruise control. I wonder if the ECM in the Dodge could be wired to do this? Any ECM Wizards out there?
