Electronic Monitoring Module

I am purchasing a 2014 3500 Ram SRW Diesel. What is the option Electronic Monitoring Module for $325? Salesmen at the dealers don't sound like they know what this does. I called the chrysler call center and they said it had to do with the sound system, if you bought the 9 speaker radio system.

I would appreciate it if someone would answer what this is for and what it does.

No! it is mostly for upfitters making ambulances, etc. It provides about 100 circuits that can be tapped into while protecting the Power Net electricals and computers of the truck. .

Well i just bought a loaded 2500 Laramie, with everything available (cept Nav), but i didnt see this option listed. Now, on the website, its there for some trims, but not Laramie. Just wondering what gives....

Initially I thought the VSIM might be nice to have "just in case" but after reading about it on rambodybuilder, I decided I had no use for it and the truck I found that matched the other sstuff I wanted did not have it. The Insight plugs into the diagnostic connector under the dash.

The vism is not something I would want on a private pick-up.Even many upfitters cant seem to use it correctly
