Got in my truck this afternoon and noticed the (ESC) Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light
was on and stayed on. There was never any loss of traction or control so I don't know why it's on isn't flashing like it says it would on page 168 of the 2014 Ram 1200,2500,3500 User Guide. Any help Thank You.

Update I found the answer in another manual the 2014 owner's Manual Ram Truck Diesel Supplement if it stays on it's a malfunction need to take it to the dealer. But could this be because of the recall updates they did yesterday. Thanks to all!

Yes I had it in to the dealer Friday and they did two updates for the recalls R23 and R40. The R36 steering wheel wire harness when they get the part in. I will have to call the dealer on Tuesday to get them to straighten it out will it hurt anything if I wait till they get the other part to have it done.

Has the truck been to a dealer for any updates?

This guy http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/2...light-after-tire-rotation-2.html#post20219401 went in for a routine oil change and tire rotation, and, unbeknownst to him, an update was applied. Seems as if there was a conflict in the updates that wound up being the source of his ESC light coming on.

Thanks gsbrockman that's what I had done will call dealer Tuesday and get it taken care of. And thanks mtwoods for sharing the problem solving tread this has always been a go to place for the Ram owners to me a must have if you drive a Ram Diesel.

The orc update was not done correctly. After the orc update the abs module must be initialized.

You know not doing a safety recall update right. Makes me wonder if I want to have them do any work on my truck. Last one I bought from this dealer and had them work on it. Had to go back right away oil line was left loose and truck was several Qts low on oil. lucky for me It didn't hurt the motor.

I had these updates done on 8/25 when I had to get my third brake light replaced, for the second time, due to leaking. On 9/4 after taking my 5th wheel to the dealer, which was only about 10 miles, I noticed that my esc light came on. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon to get it checked. I will tell them what was said here. Thanks

Bob4x4, Funny, but the exact scenario described above happened to me! Recall/reflash, then ESC warning light on instrument panel. Tony, did you notice that your cruise control no longer functioned with the ESC status? I did, during a 675 mile trip! <G> Apparently it's a "gotcha" in the reflash procedure, and I wouldn't 86 my dealer so fast. While picking up the truck, the service manager said the next recall just landed on my dossier , and now going back for the steering wheel fix. I guess the more bells and whistles, the easier to cross pollinate components.

The technician isn't paying attention when doing the flash. There is a pop up box that says "you must perform the ABS module initialization after flash is complete." If they click through it without reading it you end up with the result some are seeing. Too bad it has to be driven before the light comes on or they would catch it before it left the shop.

This was spot on. When I took my truck to the dealer today I gave them this information. When the service guy came to get me he was smiling and said, guess what we had to do. I believe he was a little embarrassed about the update. Anyway, thanks for the information. The only thing was that my fuel filter counter was set back to 3% from 53%. This is the second time this has happened, on this set of filters, with updates. Will have the filters replaced soon anyway as I am almost at 10K miles.

Double Clutch. Do you know anything more about the steering wheel recall? I have a problem where the steering is not returning to center coming out of a curve. Have to steer it back out. Need to take the truck in but would like to know if this might be related and give them a heads up.

Son's 2012 2500 work truck light has been on intermittently for a while now. First visit to ******* ship, they told him this was normal. Just got it back yesterday many visits to them for this issue, they told him that the alignment was out and that is what was needed to fix the problem. We shall see.

Mike- The way it was explained to me, the recall had to do with the wiring inside the column. Apparently some trucks had a problem with wires rubbing... and then the air bag went off. (Might have been a little too dramatic description, but I believe it's a rubbing wire thing with a reroute called for). Greg

No the recall is to protect some wiring

Same happened to me after dealer did the recalls. Also changed the oil. Going home the ESC light came on. Called back and said bring it back. So sorry. Stopped at house for a second before going back and when going back to truck seen oil dripping all over driveway looked underneath and oil everywhere. Didn't wipe any off. Got ****** and drove back and unloaded !!!!!!!! I'm suppose to have 3 more free oil changes but after that. I'll do it myself. I will not be back. And any recalls I'll drive 100 mile to another dealership if I have to.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Drove out of the dealer's lot. ESC light came on and the cruise control will not function. Taking the truck back today.

Can someone please send me the membership card and t-shirt for the "ESC-light-after-R23-recall" Club?

I'm here in Pahrump, NV for the month of November and just had the R23, R36, and R40 recalls done at Saitta Chrysler. Today my wife and I decided to go on a little day-trip over to Shoshone, Tecopa Hot Springs, China Ranch, and then back to Pahrump via the Old Spanish Highway. As we headed out of Pahrump this morning I tried to engage the cruise control only to find it wouldn't. It was then I noticed the ESC light on the instrument panel.

I made another appointment at Siatta in a couple days.

Sigh...
