What is the highest speed you have engaged the electronic transfer case into 4 High?

What is the highest speed you have driven in 4 High?

What is the longest distance at speeds above 55 mph that you have driven in 4 High?

I have engaged 4 High @ 65 mph, no apparent ill affect.

I have driven 4 High up to 80 mph, no apparent ill affect.

I haven driven in 4 High at highways speeds for about 125 miles, again no apparent ill affect. I use High 4 as if it were an AWD vehicle.

All of these situations involved heavy snowfall in Colorado.

Am I abusing the Electronic transfer case?

What special service or maintenance would apply. It has always been serviced according to the manual. 80,000 k and no problems so far, but I don't want any surprises.

Since all the front parts are turning all the time, you can't hurt anything by engaging at whatever speed you want.

No way to hurt it unless you drive in 4WD on too much dry pavement.

i didn't buy a four wheel drive for looks... .

Agreed :)

I have engaged it at highway speeds, while towing a 9,000 pound trailer through the mountians (in a snow storm) for a few hundred miles.

Even more miles put on in 4-High without the trailer.

I really haven't heard anyone complain about the transfer cases on these trucks.

one thing to keep in mind. next time your truck is sitting in the driveway. take a tape measure, measure from the top of the front wheel to the ground. take that measurment to the back tires and adjust air pressure till front/rear are the same height. this will help in 4wd engagment, and also so one end does over push/pull the other. this is a commonly overlooked area. for example i run about 15psi less in my rear tires. .

Thanks for the input guys. I have been driving 4x4's for 40 years but this is the first with an Electronic Transfer Case. Thanks to your input I am not as apprehensive now.

I LOVE my electonic tcase. I've had my truck to 115 in 4wd.

I drove my dads 03 in 4wd for 300+ miles coming out of Denver pulling a jeep in a snowstorm all the way down I-70. No problems:)
