i have removed my catalitic converter and muffler from my 05. If it is not legal or allowed to be removed too late i guess we will worry about when time for inspection. (I live in pennsylvania)

They are supposed to do a visual inspection of the exhaust system. Lots of places (including the one I go to) don't check the exhaust system at all though.

Where in PA are you located?

Will

I'm with the Pa State Police, surrender now or we will have to use force! :-laf :-laf :-laf

Why is some sites won't allow any discussions on removing the cat and such. They act like they are the law or something????Really curious.

Good point since virtually any mods to the engine are illegal from an emissions point of view anyway.

Never understood why anybody cares what someone else does to their own truck :-{} :{ . Let them enjoy it. They're taking the risk. If they want to tell the environmental whackos  to pound sand that's their business.

Now... ... all you guys who removed a cat #@$%! , surrender your truck, notarized title, and lien release to me immediately and I'll look into this situation further. I'm acting under full authority of the Mexican government :-laf .

One site that does gas and diesels the Moderator jumps in and will threatend banning/will delete the post etc. Comes down harsh. Seems like FREEDOM of SPEECH is in violation. the SITE is not the ones removing said items or discussing the subject. It kinda ERKS me that they do this. My autos/trucks are all legal. BUT why ONE site does and none of the others seems to care. Dieseltruckresourse.com

I've noticed that alot of the reply posts are not from good ol California, becuase were free here to do what ever we want to our trucks, no matter what the emissions are 'LOL'.

Im really debating on weather to remove my cat or not. I just dont want to get the renewal from the DMV three years down the road stating that a smog check is required and I dont have the stock exhaust because I sold it, then I will really be SOL. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I guess Im going to find out one way or another. I basically always learn the hard way though.

I've been reading that alot of the diesels are now coming with those monster cats, so say, smogs for diesels will probably be in affect in the future, you think?

All you have to do is put a resonator in place of your cat with band clamps. Swap them if you think you have an inspection. Its a minor swap. If the cat is new I doubt that you lose much performance. However can you imagine after 50k how that cat breathes? My nephews truck completely died from a plugged cat, ( not diesel) he ripped it off so it would run until he could put something else in its place.
