looking to go in the next few years on public land

anyone been up there, unit 5b santa fe national forrest. looking for terrain, temp oct. and your kills, good hunting or not worth it? thanks... ...

Also if your are building points you could look at 16A, 16B, 16D, 34, 36. They all have Bulls in the 300" with a lot of potential of find something bigger. The draw odds are low but 16B and 22 have a 19% chance of a tag with a 44% hunter success rate for 2011.

thanks, yea we are going to put in for 5a and 5b public land. you know anyone that has had luck on these.
 
Never hunted in NM but most fish and game agencies have stats on game taken in different units. Take a look at TOPO maps for the unit you want if it's public land chances are its a B***H to get to or has little chance for game. Just a quick look for ya

Looks like a pretty limited draw chance as only 10 tags !! success rate about average didnt look into it but why the reason for these units? are they easy access or have you had success in them before? As with most states Public hunting land has taken a beating

thanks people, ya just in the planning stages now ot see if it viable. my budy know someone who used the live in santa fe and hunted around there. it would be nice to stretch out my '06, can't do much of that in FL when you hunt in a swamp... .
