BTW -- I tried "spinning" it back with the palm of my hand, my fingers and anything else I could think of and no go. It's like it's tight enough to resist being turned, but then turns when it wants to on it's own. Hmm... . This sounds like a woman... #ad




Ok, Ok. I'll quit while I'm ahead. Seriously -- I'll do the "gently pry it out" and then "dab some silicone and push it back in" procedure this weekend.

I just realized what it is doing. The knob looks like a G56, but it REALLY wants to be a NV5600. It's just twisting around to get reverse up to the right place :-laf

My 86 Ford would spin around and rattle as I drove, I had to glue it back in when it finally popped out.

My 05 3500 CTD has turned 90* and I can't get it to rotate back, 7900 miles so far.

Your reverse on the the wrong side also. You may want to have the dealer correct that as well.

This could save you insurence. Just tell them you have an anti theft device that will " disable the trany" as the theif would be unable to figure out the patern lol.

I would think a bud cap would work. I just put a little more outward bend around the edges and poped it in.
