I have a couple of questions about Idaho testing and I am hoping that I might find somebody who has gone through the new testing. I live in Canyon County and haven't had to do the emissions out here before. A couple of places I talked to said they do a visual inspection along with the OBD testing. The question I have is do I need to find a cat? I took mine off long ago and now they are doing testing. I looked the other day and can't find my cat anywhere, I have moved several times and I'm thinking I may have left at one of my previous homes. If I do need to find one where would I go to find one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It won't pass the visual test without a CAT if it is supposed to have one.

You also may have to have an ECU updated to bring the OBD monitors into compliance so it will pass the electronic test. Se the Failed CA Smog Test thread for all the fun and games.

In the long run, moving to Mtn Home or Murphy may be a better choice. If they haven't gotten stupid and mandated testing that is. ;)

I can see CA testing emissions, but IDAHO!!! Here in Georgia if its over a cetain GVW there is no testing for diesels, did Idaho just forget that or are Ada and Canyon county going overboard?

In Ada Co, the cat has to physically be in place.

They plug a chingadera into the OBD port under the dash, and do a snap test, one clean out, three 2500 rpm snaps to measure opacity, thats it. At least for my 98 12V
