Wow

DuraMax = Parts

I am moving to Queen Creek Arizona one of these days, and was wondering about the emissions in the Hot as Hell State. My wife says that Queen Creek is in Pinal County but I am not sure. It is Southeeast of Phoenis near Apache Junction. The Big White Dodge is pretty smokey at idle at 300 ft. above sea level, and I am not sure how she will be at 1403 ft above sea level. What all do you have to have done and anything else that would help out would be apprecieated fellas. Thanks in advance.

Queen Creek appears to be barely within Maricopa County, so your truck would, I assume, have to pass the emmissions tests. I think that even in Apache Junction (Pinal County) the tests are required since AJ is considered part of the metro area. If you live outside the metro area, but commute in to work, they gotcha again.

My last test in December on my 98 12V CTD (stock engine) showed an opacity reading of 19. 3% versus the standard of 40 %. They also check the gas cap for leakage and the catalytic converter.

Hope this helps.

I pass every year here in Arizona. I have 370's with a 11 plate full forward. I do a 10% or so on the test. Whe ou go to the emmissions testing station, tell them you've done this test lots of times and they'll let you sit in the drivers seat and work the go-peddle. Ease into the peddle instead of mashing it to the floor and you will easily pass. The lot jockies really hate our trucks and want to get them out ASAP. Truthfully, I have never seen anyone fail including an old Mercedes diesel in front of me that smoked like crazy idling in line... ... .....

The sorry part of the test is that if you fail it must be repaired before it can be registered. The state will allow one waiver for one year. It is the only waiver that vehicle will get in its lifetime for you or any other future owner. The test I believe is $27. 50 and good for 2 years.

I cant really remember if the 97's had a cat or not. But I know for sure that she doesn't have one now. Is that bad. thanks for all the replies fellas hope to meet some of ya soon.

When I did my emissions test and on the 3 company vehicles, I was always the driver and pushed the go pedal. That way I roll into the throttle easy. They don't know how fast your engine will rev anyway.

All that has ever happened on my checks is they look at the tailpipe while I goose, run a mirror under the exhaust and opened the fuel door. Then sent me on my way. That was at a DOT Emissions station at 48th St and Washington. Don't think I got any special treatment. I was told I have to do the test every year though. ???

I think I remember reading something about the vehicle weight when emissioned every year. Being you have a 3500 DRW that may be the case. I threw all the papers in the trash so I cannot verify this. May be able to find something on the service arizona website though. I thought the yearly inspections were less money though. What did they charge you?. They also gave me the option to register for two years.

I go through every year at $27 a pop! The last time I went through, they did not check for the cat. I asked and they said they always do. The test is nothing but a punishment for buying a fuel-efficient, powerful vehicle... ... ...

We're in the 1st year of the new law here ... had to get inspected. :-{} I made sure the Valet switch was off. :-laf Probably didn't need it as they didn't load the truck that hard. Anyway, passed with 0. 6% opacity.

Had to put the CAT back on, gutted of course. Had it modified for 4" inlet. Visual passed no problemo.
