Looking for Diesel Performance Shop in MN/WI/IA

Ok so guess what engine I get assigned

I lived in Ohio for 40 years before moving to Pennsylvania a year and a half ago. Yes certain counties have testing, but if you license your truck for over 10,000 lbs combined weight you don't have to have it tested. I did that as I didn't believe in the testing and I never knew when I'd want to haul something big. Even had my half ton F-150 licensed that way.

Here where I live in Pa, there is no testing. They're talking about doing a minor visual test for gassers sometime in the future, but I hope it doesn't come about.

What about if you have stacks? hhe,, Have them clip the opacity moniter on one stack, and have all the exhaust routed out the other. . :p

I wonder if I could go somewhere to get tested just for the fun of it... :p Wonder what the reaction of the tech would be when he see's 100% ?

Banks used to and maybe still does include a piece of tinted glass for measuring opacity with their kits. Ask a Banks dealer, they'd probably give you one.

You wont play that game here in the Houston area. I spoke with the man doing one of the company gasser that I took to get sniff and I ask him what he would do if the vehicle had duals on it and he said " I will stick a moniter in both pipes"

Well I went and got a sticker on my motorcycle last Thursday and ask a few question . The man doing the inspection told me that he has been told that diesel emission test sniffing might start in the next three to five years . He said that when the low sulfur diesel is the only thing that is available that thats when it will start and he said he was told that will be in the next three to five years. It is already available because we are running it in the company State trucks and equipment that I drive every day . We are no long using that water diesel mix junk . According to a article in the July 2003 issue of the Transportation News volume 28 number 9 " that the State of Texas is growing by 30,000 people a month and the State is facing congestion , pollution and the erosion of our safety on the roads ". Know telling whats gonna happen so get over in the slow lane California cause here we come.

I find that really odd. Pennsylvania required EGR and catalytic mufflers on diesel powered transit buses before California.

ohio

Just had the New TDI Jetta tested.

They allow 20 % opacity. We tested 0 % opacity. All for $19. 50.

What a ripoff.

I believe they do have testing on gasoline vehicles in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but not in the rural areas of the state - and, with the exception of a few small cities like Erie and Harrisburg, most of the rest of the state is rural. Even in the two big cities, I don't think they test diesels.

blakers,

i live in pittsburgh and they do not do emissions on the diesels. they just do emissions on the gassers.
