Well let's look at the whole picture. While the driver is in the area and he wants to visit his family, what harm is there in doing so? Is he a reliable employee. Does he treat the vehicle like it's his own. Would you rather he leaves the truck at a truck stop/parking area and takes a bus? We all know fuel pricers are high right now but how much would it cost you to hire a new employee, do a back-round check on that employee, trust the load to him and so on? Is this straight truck the ones you see along side the road selling furniture? There are a lot of things to consider. I think the most consideration should be given to how much would it cost you in the long run to have someone use the truck without your knowledge. Things could be far from just using the truck to visit his family. Just my two cents worth. One final thought, put yourself in his place. A trip home on occasion could make for a better employee, one who LIKES what he's doing and cares about it as well. It's more than just $$$$$$$.
