I have an EMS lock out hub kit that I took off my 99 when I sold it. I listed it in the classifies but then I got to thinking about what it would take to make it work on my 2004. 5. On EMS web site it shows 00-07 being the same kit and the 94-99 being the same I’m sure the difference is my 99 did not have ABS and my 04 does I will probably just order the right kit for my new truck but does any one know if the axle shafts are the same between the two kits? I’m relatively sure that the spindles would inter change so that would just leave me to having to purchase the ABS sensor mount and new hubs (if EMS would sell them to me:rolleyes:) any input would be appreciated

Thanks

I think you'll find the inner axle shafts on the AAM axle larger than the Dana's. Without having ever had to pull one of the AAM's, I'm out of wisdom, but having done hundreds of others, I'd bet they won't work. The only way to tell is to pull them and measure length, splines, and spline diameter. If they all match up, they should work. Also, I don't know which kit you have from EMS, but if you have the basic axle kit, remember the Dana had a two piece passenger side shaft, and the AAM's have one long shaft. Hope this helps some. Also, if it won't work, I'd be interested in them. I've got lots of work trucks to use them on!?!

Call EMS, They will probably help ya.

That’s the thing I called EMS an kind of got a smart @$$ remark, and the guy was not much help gave a little laughed and said nope…. . nothing will work on your new truck you will have to buy a whole new kit. If thats the case I don’t mind buying one that works but I got the feeling that they just didn’t want to help in all honesty If I buy a complete new kit I will probably spend the extra $$$ for the Dynatrac kit. I was just trying to not buy parts I already have

Doesn 't sound like EMS, They were always helpful to me.
Surprised they did not explain differences to you...

I think the amount of parts needed to be replaced is more $ than a new kit... Cheaper to sell yours and buy complete new...

I just recently installed the Dynatrac kit with their hubs. All very nice products well machined and packed up properly very helpfull over the phone when ordering, explained differences between the Dana-60 and AAM 9. 5. Was hoping to get a stub hub for the AAM but doesnt look like they will be building one. I think the major difference between the two is that EMS uses excisting Ford parts and machines them to work for this application. Dynatrac machines all new parts, as well has 35spline outer axles. The Dynaloc hubs are very nice and low profile. I did measure the total length from wheel mounting surface, off the top of my head I think it was 5 3/4 inches. I did post this info during install so you could double check that measurement. This is also the time to replace U-joints and ball joints.
