Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Truck bogs down

The moronic part about the high idler is, if you plug your truck in it won't work. So, basically what DC is saying, is you can take care of your truck, or you can have defrosters when you start moving, but not both.

There has been talk about which sensors it uses: IAT, coolant, battery, but I don't remember which ones for sure. Hopefully this winter I can get some readings on all of those at cold temps, and then find a warm garage to work in and start trying some different things with them. Eventually, I would like the high idle to come on when it is 32 degrees out, and coolant temp is below 160. No matter if it has been left out all night, or plugged in, or just idling so I have a warm place to go to. It shouldn't matter.

Just another example of DC castrating a good idea.

The Dodge high idle feature is automatically engaged when the following parameters are met

1) The ambient intake air temperature must be below 32F (0C)

2) The tps sensor must read 0 (throttle is not applied)

3) Coolant temp is less than 140F

4) Brake pedal is not applied

5) Below 9F, when 1-4 above are met, the ECM will deactivate 3 cylinders to enhance the warming process.

As far as I know, most if not all of the aftermarket idle controllers have an on off setting. I believe that they can also be set for different rpms.
