I plan to order a 2014 3500 Ram and so will be selling my faithful 2004 and a lot of accumulated parts for it (see classified sections). I hope my excitement about the new Rams will be justified; my 2004 has been a great truck and test bed for a lot of "stuff" such as the wonderful BD twin turbos, Reunel stainless bumpers, Transfer Flow, etc. Of course, very little will fit the new one, so lets see how much "stuff" I end up getting for the new toy!

Several of the mods on my 03 were performed because of the success you had on your 04, most important to me were the R700's and the great performance they provide, Thank you for all of your input. I am sure you will enjoy the new truck, and am also sure other 4th Gen'rs will benefit from your new improvements.

When are you planning to order? I looked into the 2014 on Saturday but the salesman said the ordering bank wasn't open yet. What are the details of the new one?

Congrats on the new truck. In the process now of getting myself a new one too.

I doubt there will be many changes for 2014 from the 2013. 5 model. I hope they put a fuel cap on it! Unless there will be a big delay, I will order a 2014 as soon as I can. I am also trying to find out more about 4. 10 vs. 3. 42 ratios and their availability. Since the 2012s were extended until Dec. 2012 using the old emissions recipe, I don't know if the 2013 will be a half year model, or if Ram will run it into the Fall of 2013.

First one in line with cash gets the old one, lol! I need the funds for the 2014.

I heard you where at the TDR rally in Columbus IN. Did you get the new truck bug there? I to was at the rally also with my CFO/DW and she said no way she would not spend $67K on a new pick-up truck. She said the truck was nice and quieter than our 08, but no it will have to do.

Where you in on the discussion with the Cummins engineer about the Torque curve and usable torque that is now available for the new 2013 Cummins engine. I was impressed with the almost flat line in the torque curve within the usable RPM range with the new engine. From what I remember the usable torque range is now starting around 1,600 RPM's through 2,000 RPMs before the peak torque falls off. I believe this is why the Cummins/Ram folks are saying they can get by with the 3:42 gear sets in the SRW trucks. The engineer said that they tested the 2013 SRW towing a trailer at the GCVW against a similar equipped 2012 truck towing to the maximum GCVW, except the 2012 truck had 4:10 gears. He claims in testing that the 2013 out preformed the 2012 in every aspect from fuel economy to towing.

Another reason and I know this was not mention but I am sure it has to do with emission testing. Ram/Cummins does not need to test the other powertrain configurations if they can get by with just the 3:42 gear sets in an SRW truck, saves testing money.

I decided to get a new Ram at May Madness based on the talks by Chrysler and the walk-around of the 2013 there. I know Ram has gone all-out to improve mpg this year, and for many the 3. 42 ratio will help. The DEF approach will help considerably, also.
