Ok, I know it's the wrong forum, but this is too good. My buddy that works at a diesel shop heard the other day that Ford is buying out their contract with Navistar to end all production of the 6. 0. Seems Ford has already spent a billion on warrenty issues from the motor alone. The 06' will be the last poorstroke, and in 07' a CAT. 6. 4L twin turbo, 340hp, 4cyl. Maybe its all crap, but a good story anyways.

Yeah, they arent using the PS anymore, because ford owns cummins and they are putting them in instead

Actually the 6. 4L is a IH motor, with HPCR injection, and is rumored to have twins to meet 07 emmissions requirements. No HP/Tq #'s yet. Will be introduced for the 07 Model year

I heard similar to signal73. Was thinking another V8, though. A 4 would have such huge lungs it would turn slow and suck fuel.

A little math puts it at just under the front 3/4 of an L10, but modern pickup drivers seem to like to spin their crank faster than 1900 r's

I'm a CAT Tech and I've heard nothing about this, and we usually hear everything about anything a CAT engine is going in.

I might have to change my faith sometime down the road in the future.

I wonder if this will be an ACERT engine, or if it will happen at all.

I heard Detroit was getting into the light duty diesel game too.

If cat does do a light truck engine in '07 it will likely be twin turbo as every truck engine they have is going toward twins with the HEUI-B/MEUI-B fuel system.

We'll see.

R. J. I also work for a CAT dealer and heard nothing about this. But I was at the CAT training center in April, in Tucson Az. , the trainer for the engine updates said Caterpillar had a new 6L class engine coming out with a new fluid actuated fuel system, which had me puzzled since he didn't say HEUI and wouldn't tell me what fluid was used to actuate the injectors. I also asked him if they were looking to go after the pick-up market with that size engine and he just smiled and said anything is possible. Mike

I really hope Cat does somthing to get away from the HEUI system, engine oil is for lube, not for fuel delivery control. In the performance market, it just can't seem to move enough fuel to make an engine compete with the Isuzu and Cummins engines.

Last rumor I heard, the new Powerstroke was supposed to be completely Ford built, with no outside help.
