EMorad, did you see any of those/these symptoms?

never had good fuel economy since I bought the truck with 9k on it. had people tell me it was auto/4x4/33" tires/leadfoot. Sounded right. I was getting 10-14 in city and 13-14 highway for the last year. never more than 16 highway messing with the boxes and resetting counter.

As for power, last few weeks, it did feel down on power, even with more upgrades. I have never heard of this issue thoguh and when I told others I wasnt imperssed with new power, nothing was mentioned. I told Stephan at DTT and he sent me another box to stackc assuming it was the turbo lag.

Not sure on the knocking sound. I heard a few noises I guessed were not delivering enough fuel for the deman. only happened on the highest box settings.

I guess I had 2 of the 3 for sure. :/

Anyone think I should fight for compensatino even thoguh I had mods? I wasnt willing to demad to save the $, but I am willign to fight if need be opnce I get my truck back. Obviously a problem from all the calls and pms'. Thoughts?

Calling Rick in the AM. I am planning to get it tomorrow.

leaning towards getting rid of the truck as of right now. Maybe buy another that I can lightly easily mod and demaod if there is a problem. no more big mods on a diesel EVER. pricey bulsh!t :(

I'm wondering if you were using gauges or the gauges built into the attitude because I know my Isspro egt reads 200-300' hotter than the attitude. i have trouble getting the attitude to go over 1000' degrees and the hottest I've seen it was 1250 then I looked at my Isspro and it was buried at 1500' when I let up.

Waiting on Daves Diesel to call me and tell me the truck is finished.

I feel like I am going to puke still.

I cant imagine keeping the truck without a warranty. Only slight hope is if there is an aftermarket company worth a **** that I can buy a warranty through.

Otherwise, selling it and getting a new truck

As an engineer, I believe in cause and effect. Unfortunately, there are too many dealers that will automatically assume what you had on there caused it, while there are just as many of "us" that will hide some of the potential causes from the mechanics. Guess you'll just have to trust your own judgment... .

I dont see a way to center punch the outside valve seat areas without affecting the sealing surface of the valve.

Punch the seat, deck the head, then set the vavles up in the head farther to keep them away from the pistons.

Last time I talked to Piers about redecking the head to re machine grooves for fire rings he told me to find out the cummins specs for overall head height and if it fits the spec just set the valves in the head higher...

Well, I got most of the mods done to my truck. Thanks to everyone that helped guide me in the first thread:

mods on the truck were:

edge turbo w/ new downpipe/intercooler pipe
edge HOT juice with attitude
bully dog power pup stacked with edge
intake
MBRP muffler (rest of system stock)
fass 95
DTT trans/convertor etc...

I hate to break it to you, but you've been without certain warranties ever since these mods were done, as am I since upgrading my lift pump system.

I applaud the fact that you didn't try to hide these mods from the dealer and sneak an engine replacement under warranty. You're a man with integrity, which unfortunately can be an expensive virtue. If you want a full factory warranty, plan on leaving the truck stock.

1400* pre or post turbo?

I stated this IIRC. After the turbo and hot juice etc...

EDIT: it was late when I posted this and dint read that right, that temp was pre turbo. I didnt have any probe but the one in the manifold from the juice with attitude setup

Got the truck back, long day. Daves Diesel busted *** and stayed late to get it done. I owe them bigtime. Rick went above and beyond to get me taken care of. Imperssed with the shop also, very laid out. I was on a deadline to get the tuck back and they came through. :)

Back to stock turbo, edge box, built trans, AFE filter in OEM box, fass 95 and MBRP muffler. getting rid of the HOT version and the power pup, also deleted the K+N kit.

Only thing I wasnt happy with is the fact that the valve cover from the new engine had the engine lables scraped off so I cant see the specs/details of this exact engine. I dont think DD did this, but nonetheless that came across as very shady IMO (I am in the auto recycling industry, so really rubs me wrong). I spoke with Rick about this and he is going to furnish the vin for me tomorrow. Who would scrape off the entire lable unless they were trying to hide something. It was obvious it was removed by a person intentionally. :/

I spoke with Jack Williams (The transmission builder in IN) and he spoke with alot of techs and it supposedly isnt a question of "IF" the problem occurs, just a question os "when". That sits uneasy with me since I just shelled out huge bucks and have no warranty. :/

probably selling or trading in the truck. Would be nice to trade it in and drop the unwarrantied truck in their lap. Would have to warn a private buyer. Selling the edge turbo kit once it gets replaced and also the k+N kit. If interested, let me know -- email address removed --

BTW, almost everyone here doesnt have a warranty. I wouldnt feel good about that. :/ I am suer many will demod and get it handled, but they appear to not be easy to deal with from the horror stories I have heard. careful guys.

Sorry to hear about this; that's really tough. Check my mods; engine runs strong. I fire ringed and upgraded studs before I intalled my twins and turned up my TST. But as far as valves coming into contact I haven't done anything to help with that. Would upgraded valve springs help prevent this? 67,000 miles most of it with power upgrades and no problems with engine at all.

But bottom line -- pay to play. It sucks big time when stuff breaks. Warranty? What warranty! :(

If the truck was my living (hauling, etc) it would be stock or very near stock until the OEM warranty expired.

As for me; I expect no warranty help on engine or engine components. That said -- this is my fourth Dodge/Cummins all of them had turned up power and none of them ever had an engine problem. It will and does happen though.

I also have to add the qualifier that Dodge has always screwed me over on warranty claims so I expect nothing from them... EVER. It made it way too easy for me to say "screw it" and mod the truck.

Truck has been in SIX TIMES for A/C condenser/compressor not working. And it's still not fixed... defroster doesn't work; A/C doesn't work. Until you spin up the RPMs to get it to engage... then works for a while (which is SCARY when the roads are wet and it's raining and you need to downshift and nail 100mph 3200rpm to get the condenser/compressor to grab so you can SEE!). Dodge says "cannot reproduce problem" (of-course they take the truck for a spin and hotrod with it so the condenser/compressor grabs). Guess I'll be buying a new condenser/compressor out-of-pocket even though I have an "extended warranty" LOL

(can't remember which one is clutched; condensor or compressor)

Took it in for this problem (the first time) about 1 and a half YEARS ago. Didn't travel at all last summer since family didn't want to take road trips in a vehicle w/o A/C -- and my health was screwy so had less incentive to fight with Dodge (or take trips).

I know of six trucks that have done this. Mine is in that line up. Mine droped at idle so i was able to save the block. When i had the head off we gave it the works: ported, valve guids, ringed the head and replaced the ex-side valve seats with over sized seats. I talked to three or four shops and they said they are starting to see this problem. Dealer would have fixed but i didn't want it done the same. I wanted the problem fixed for good.
