OK, it's been a while since I've posted. I'm finally getting around to fixing my truck. A few years ago I broke the rear differential at the truck pulls, I fixed that and the transmission went out, I rebuilt that and put new bearings and a chain in the transfer case. After that the transfer case wasn't right and I suspect one of the bearings wasn't right because there were a few that didn't fit. Then the clutch started to not fully release to the point where I had to shut the truck off to get it in gear. So I've got it fully apart and I plan on going back in with the NV-4500 and a used NV-271 transfer case.
On to my question, I've read a few times that the transfer case will hit the bottom of the cab with the positioning of the NV-4500 and most people beat the crap out of the floor to make it work
. What I want to do is modify the crossmember to lower the back of the transmission 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Other than baseless opinions does anyone see an issue with tilting the engine a slight amount? How about the motor mounts, they should be made to handle this right? Thanks for any input.
