I purchased the cord from Cummins, Part # 251919. Don't need it here, but we are traveling up north for the Holidays. Came to $11. 65 with shipping right to my front door. I ordered it from Cummins Southern Plains in Round Rock, TX. Hope this helps... . Robert

I ended up paying about the same at the local Cummins/IH dealer. I love that place compared to paying thru the nose at the dealer. :)

I stopped by a local Cummins earlier this year and they were out of stock. He suggested I try Truck Pro, across the street. I picked one up there for $11. The guy behind the counter assured me the 110 volt cords were pretty much all standard. It works as promised. I still have the packaging and can dig up the company name/part number if anyone is interested.

I just got mine from Geno's today. Came in a box with Cummins logos & label. Part # is 3963564. Date of manufacture is 12-08-04. Cord has plastic plugs that plug in frame rail to hold cord in place. $26. 95 + shipping.

If you guys was runnin them trucks, you wouldn't need no stinkin block heater cord. The injectors are designed to start to -40 degrees F. I think that's what Joe Donnelly said in his article on the engine. Course it is nice to have a warm water start!

I just went over and did some grumbling at the dealer today. He must have felt guilty, as he gave me a cord free of charge, showed me where to plug it in, etc. Brought it home and had it done in about 20 minutes. Just have to remove a threaded plastic cap and away you go. I would have been really p..... d off if they would have made me pay for it. Call it the principal of the thing... ... if you will.

Heater cable

Hey guys - I have a 4. 5 600. My Dodge dealer service department could not fix a toy wagon much less my new Cummins. I aked them where the block heater was - they coul not find it! They knew nothing about ordering a heater cord, until I showed them the owner's manuel.

The correct part number is:5086737AB, with a list price of $39. 50/with tax $42. 50.

My son and I installed it: the air box must be removed, completely. On the passenger side of the block there will be a black round plastic cap about 3/4 inch in diameter. Remove this cap and the cord has two recessed holes for the plug ends plus there is a small spring ground for correct placement. The cord has four "plug" to attach to body, run cord under turbo and air box and attach along fender - you will have to work it through the rubber surround next to the radiator and it will come out by the right headlight. Plug it in and it will come right on! You and either run it all night, or put it on a timer, or get up and plug it in one hour beofre starting.

On different note, I asked this same "service manager" to point out the water separater/filter ... you'll love this... . and he pointed to the wear indicator on the air filter! Needless to say this dealership will never touch this dually!

I must have smaller hands. I was able to access the plastic cap from underneath, by reaching up next to the oil filter. It was a tight squeeze, but managed to unscrew the cap with one hand, and plug and tighten the cord with the other. I probably looked like a contortionist under the truck, but with a little grunting, got it done without having to remove anything. And it was toasty this morning... our temp here was 27, and I got warm air almost immediately, grid cycle minimal as if on a normal day.

Hmmm, wonder why there is the word service before manager, should be DUFUS Manager! :-laf

Thanks for posting the pics! Me and the dealer mechanics just installed mine yesterday (before I saw this post) and we routed the wire totally wrong. We went along the top behind the factory breather. There are some holes up there that line up with two of the three clips, and we drilled a little hole in the battery tray for the 3rd. It works, but I like the frame rail better.
