Engine cleaning

Anyone want to share any products/techniques on exterior engine cleaning? Thanks.

I KNOW THAT SHOOTING THE ENGINE DOWN WITH SIMPLE GREEN AND THEN RINSING SEEMS TO WORK REAL WELL. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT THE ENGINE IS COOLED DOWN. STILL WAITING FOR MY NEW BABY.

I like Castrol Super-Clean,spray it on,let it soak for a minute,then rinse. 80 times stronger than Simple Green(thats what the label says anyway)At any auto parts. Don't use Gunk.

I use greased lightning (not diluted), that stuff will clean anything off.

Tried some new stuff from Simple Green. It is their Pro-Series automotive formula. Works pretty good. It dosn't stink like regular Simple Green. The smell of the Pro-Series reminds me of carpet shampoo/cleaner. The only thing I did not like about the Pro-Series is the way it sprays out the bottle. It comes out as a foam which made it not spray very far and hard to get some of the hard to reach spots on the engine (mainly drivers side and underside engine between rear of oil pan and bellhousing)


Has anyone used those engine detailing kits I see at the auto stores? Comes with a can of degreaser and a can of something you spray on everything to make it look new again. Just wondering if the stuff works.

Just a pointer correct me if i am wrong but does the ETH with the black valve cover have some polished aluminum on it??? Or is it just painted. Anyways be careful with strong cleaners on machined aluminum surfaces. Super clean and cleaners like that will stain it(at least they did to a set of valve covers on my car) if you let them sit to long at all. Simple green is ok though, i think you can drink simple green actualy lol not to strong. Just my . 02
Anyone have a Black valve cover they want to sell?

Justmy . 02, but one time at a Cummins garage, after a broken fuel line, the guy used nothing but steam to clean the engine and said that is all you need .
