I have for many years detailed my engines about once a year. I start with a cold engine, wrap plastic around the alternator and then wet the entire engine with water. Next I spray full strength simple green on every thing and rinse with water. I then repeat a second time. Next using compressed air blow the crap out of everything. Start the engine and go on a 20 minute drive to ensure all is dry. Other than a Pac Brake solenoid needing dis-assembled and dried once I have never had any problems on my first and second gen trucks. Looking at the forth gen engine I am hesitant to do this. There are just so many connectors and electronics in there. Does anyone have experience cleaning the new engines or have detailing experience on the new trucks. Thanks for any ideas.

I spray LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner and rinse the engine off every time I wash the truck. I have done this with all the trucks I have had with no ill effect.

I give everything a soaking of CRC 656 twice a year. After having the wire harness rot/ green away on my 1989 from road salt I'd rather have some dirt and things working than corrosion. That said when it's time to cleanthings up before working on them a can of Foamy has always worked wonders. I'm sure Simple Green would work well also.
