engine compartment noise

I have a "funny" noise happening when the engine is running on my '03 2500 w / CTD.



This noise resembles a squeaking belt, only it is intermittent - as in a squeak about every second.



Any ideas???



I did have the serpentine belt replaced about 5,000 miles ago and have had this on and off since then, but now it is a constant, when idling. Not sure about going down the road, can't really hear it then.

Might check your idler pull, mine was doing this when the idler pully was going out. just my . 02

Thanks. That's what I was thinking and will take it to the dealer on Monday - as they put the new (second in 6 months) belt on back in March.

Have them check the water pump too. My factory one did not have a weep hole and it was so loose the impeller was scoring the inside of the block.
