Anybody know if an 2006 engine control module can be retrofitted to an 2004. 5? I am interested in jake brake compatibility for my 04. 5; I have not seen this discussed other than the earlier models do not have enough memory.

Its a good bet not. The 06's monitor and control a lot more the the 04. 5's. The 04. 5's also don't have all the controls and hardware neccessary for a factory EB. More than likely the ECM would fall all over itself with fault codes.
The 06 is the first 3rd gen to be EB compatible as far as DC is concerned. The problem is controling line pressure in the trans so it doesn't eat itself when the EB is applied.
