Engine Controller

Anyone have a lead or advice on where to find an "engine controller" for a 91 Dodge 250 w/ AT 5. 9 Cummins. When I pulled off the highway last night there was smoke coming out of that black box, battery had boiled dry & no doubt shorted. second question is, what would have caused all of that - runaway alternator?

do you still need a ecm for your pick up i have one out of a 91 w250 auto that worked perfect ( used the engine in a ford conv. and did not use the dodge wiring ) get me the part # and i will check or call me john 602 757 8390 ps i have a lot of misc. parts including a rust free core suport
