My data plate is missing #@$%! #@$%! Came that way from the PO. I've tried Cummins and Chrysler. They don't seem to be any help. Does anyone know how to recover an engine serial no?

I just used a friend's serial number from the same CPL (1351, in your case). If Chrysler cant help you, no one can.

Sri Ram,

I lost mine a couple of years ago; there isn't a way that I've found to recover the correct info, but I got this info from another member. It should work for your truck since it's the same year '91. 5

CPL 1579

Serial number 56122837

I haven't had any problems getting the correct parts so far.

Don't cus him to bad. I was fiddling with my lift pump this weekend and I caught the side of my hand on the side of the tag and it pulled it out of the top rivet. Thinking I should go ahead and pull it off and save somewhere safe so I don't lose it.

Thanks for the replies. But, I'm a little confused now. Piers Diesel said to use cpl 1351, and one of you seconded that. But, what is cpl 1579?

My 91. 5 W-250 I believe is cpl 1351. Usually my cummins dealer wants the engine serial # for I. D. I'll get it for you if you like... .....

Kenny

1579 is the number that I got from Piers, for a 91. 5 intercooled.
Whoops! Looks like Piers got some wires crossed when talking to one of us. Can anyone verify which cpl the mid-year 91 engine is?

Kenny, if you wouldn't mind…

Here are the CPLs as best I remember-

0804- non intercooled 89-early 91. 114 pump, 18cm exh housing, 50mm impellar

1351- 91. 5-92. 5 intercooled. 184 pump, 21cm exh housing, 54mm impellar.

1579- 92. 5-93 intercooled. 205 pump, 18cm exh housing, 54mm impellar

Hope this clears up any confusion. It isnt a surprise if someone got some wires crossed along the way- these trucks are 15 years old.

Daniel

Thanks for the link, TSuter. I think that, together with Daniel's post, clears the air. I now have several serial numbers to use the next time I call Cummins

Thanks, TWorline. My truck was purchased in March of 91, if memory serves me, so it must be one of the earlier mid-year 91's.
