Gentlemen,

I have a problem with my 97' Dodge diesel. When I start it on cold mornings 60 plus degrees. It idles rough. Then when I pull out and drive for a while it just dies on the road. I just keep on cranking the it starts up again after a while. This happens only on colder mornings her in Hawaii. Seems like it's lacking fuel. When trying to start again it sputters until fuel reaches the injectors then it slowly runs good after that. Any cures? Thanks kyle

Sounds like its loosing prime. Have the rubber fuel lines been replaced? Also you might check the tightness of the fuel filter and the filter drain valve.

Tim,

These trucks were never designed to be operated in a harsh environment such as yours... ... . :p . As was previously mentioned, check your rubber fuel lines near the injection pump, especially the return line. This task is a PITA though.

Gentlemen,

I will check the fuel lines asap. Thanks for the input. I might want to add that my fuel gauge readings spikes. I dont know if something is wrong with the fuel gauge but it might read zero for a while, no side effests on engine performance then it spikes to 60 plus for a while, no effect on performance, then it might go normal to 20 psi. Really weird. Why The "oil pressure gauge", is located after the filter. Its a issipro oil pressure gauge used as a fuel pressure gauge. Recommended by piers diesel. He said it works fine on some of his friends trucks. Thanks Kyle
