Need of help

I like the Geno's plug mount idea but I have always been hesitant about buying one for the simple reason is that to the best of my knowledge, the plate is plain mild steel and after a few rock chips or any imperfection in the sealing of the finish on it, it will start leaving rust streaks on the bumper and running down the bumper within a few years. It would be nice if they used stainless or aluminum for the mount plate to idiot proof the rusting potential. especially for the fact that if you need one of these, you are living in the salt belt and it will be well bathed in salt for 4-7 months of the year.
I purchased one from Geno's Garage in Jan. 2010, and installed the block heater bumper plug that year. It has now been eight (8) years of use and I have yet to see any rust streaks on my front bumper. The plate has lost some of it's paint and is starting to rust but the bumper is clean. I do live in IL so, I do see the salt on the roads with my truck being a daily driver.

I plug in when ever I want a warmer truck in the morning. I use the Geno's plug mount. Yes it's got rust on it. The rust doesn't run down the bumper. I need to take it off, brush the rust and repaint. Just haven't done it yet and won't until May or so.

I got some grid heater relays in and thought the same thing they looked like just mild steel, knowing I did not want the same results as factory, I used GalvaBrite on the relay brackets I needed a new mount, also used it on that. I get it from McMaster, its a great galvanizing spary that has a nice metallic finish opposed to normal galvanizing spray for welding that has a flat finish. It can take minor scratches and the sort and not rust.

I had to dissemble the relays to get the mounts off, but the tabs just bend on those. Not sure on the genos plug could do the same and just spray the mount
