Yesterday I had the Pyton 881XP Security System with remote start and turbo timer disconnected.

This morning I was suppose to take my truck to the dealer, I hooked up the travel trailer, which made the hiccup happen more often, and I could not get it to hiccup. I called the dealer and cancelled my appointment at the dealer. No use taking it in if it wouldn't hiccup.

Now to give it some time and see if the Ptyon was causing the hiccup.

Hmmm....

OK... well that is good news Big Bob (well sort of). I hate the thought of no longer having my remote start/security system. After a couple of days of driving, would you mind giving us an update on whether or not this truly did fix the hiccup? Sorry to use ya as "guinea pig", but no sense in us both removing our remote starts if it doesn't fix the problem.

Thanks Bob!

I've felt this a total of 6 time in the past about 7 months. Every time under very light throttle conditions at relatively low speed. All but once on a cold engine. I can't say much for sure except that every time the fuel pressure was fine and it has done it on bot TST's normal and comp programs. The TST may or may not be realted. I'm not willing to unhook it for a month to see if it happens again.

Steve,

I certainly will. No hiccups at all today. We'll see in the next couple of weeks.

I think we found the problem!

I had the Python 881 brain remove on 7/21/04 and didn't have any hic-cups. On Wednesday August 4th we put the Python back in, I didn't even get out of the driveway and the hic-cups were back. Removed the Python again, and went on the NorthWest Bombers Campout (What a great time!) and the Security dealer called DEI while I was at the campout. Went back today and they put a "New Brain" in the system. Hic-cups were back!

The tech said that the only thing that was connected to the ECM was the tach wire that tells the Security system that the engine is running. He said that he could disconnect it and change it to a voltage line to tell the Security system that the engine was on.

BINGO! I have driven about 30 miles now without a hic-cup! I think we got it fixed now! :D :D :D Oo. Oo. Oo.

Steve, are you still getting the hic-cups? Is your system hooked up to ECM tach wire? If so you might want to try a voltage line instead. Let me know what happens.

Got HO? I just installed a Banks on my '03 auto transmission. set the same engine code Po336. By-passed the box and it didnt happen again. I do belive that with the box hooked up I am slipping the transmission, but cannot explain the enging code. banks tuner will also set a slipping transmission code. Please post anything that you find out with this.

Congrats Bob....

Bob...

Thanks for the update. I'm big time happy that you have found the solution to your hiccups. I am still having trouble with mine, but have not removed the security system yet. I've printed this thread and will take it to the installer who did my Viper system. To be honest, I have no idea how they connected the sensor to determine if the engine is running or not. I will find out though and keep you posted on progress.

Thanks again Bob!!

Steve,

The Viper and Pyton are both made by DEI. I'll bet they also hooked up to the ECM tach wire. Hope this solves you hic-cups also.

When at the dealer taking a test drive in a new 04 Quad 6 sp. when I started the truck and letting it idle , while looking at all the new surroundings, the engine had a "hiccup" . I drove the truck in traffic for 10 miles without any other hiccups . it may be more common after a fuel box is added.

I'm thinking electrical Gremlins????
