It's a long story but here is the short version. After many trips to the dealer, parts replaced and fearing the second buyback under the lemon law the engine knock is gone. Dealers' kept pushing me away after the third attempt to fix all saying it's a fuel knock or nothing can be done. I tried 5 bottles of Delo injector cleaner with slight improvement but knock would return on the next untreated tank of fuel.
I started a case file with Chrysler and got a number for Cummins from the customer service agent. The Cummins rep talked to some mechanics and called my back reporting the knock most likely being caused by newer low sulfur fuels with little lubricity and suggested a good fuel additive(non-cleaning. )
It took about 1,000mi using a fuel additive and running it hard. I have lived with this DAMM knock for over a year and can't believe it is actually gone. Oo. Thank you Cummins.
