Engine knocking

I have 03 with 70K, I shut off at bank and when I started it back up it had a terrible knocking sound and was putting out blue smoke at exhaust. This is the first it has done this and without warning. What would cause such a dramatic change? I have been running the TST box on 1/1 to try to conserve fuel. Any ideas where to start looking?

Is it an actual engine knock or is it an engine miss (possibly more than 1 cylinder)? Do you have oil pressure? If it's a miss i would dissconect the tst and try it.

I hate to say this but it sounds like you dropped a valve seat that is what mine did when I dropped one on my truck. I would not drive it very far it will do major damage.

Defenantly a knock not miss. Egt's maybe 375-400 (light city errands). Oil pressure normal. Lightman how many miles on your engine when it dropped? How were you using it? What did it ruin on the motor? I ran it long enough to pull it in the shop( maybe 1 minute) I just put new transmission in last month and with fuel prices I've been pretty light with the right foot. Thanks for the input guys.

My truck had about 68000 when it dropped, it had a mild miss, dropped exhaust on #5 you could hear it in the exhaust pipe. I ran my truck pretty hard at the drags at times. I replaced the head with a reman from cummins

for the newer 600/325 engine it had minor piston damage.

OK, Head is off, dropped #4 exhaust seat, ruined piston, head,injector, but turbos survived. What do you guys recomend finding a replacement head? (preffered 05) Should it be studded? Open for suggestions.

No warrantee. Too many mods to even try, I knew I was on my own. I was just looking for any input from the board on what works and what doesn't. Trying not to reinvent the wheel. Thanks
