Do any of you know why the engine light would be on with so few miles. The manual is not very helpful,(Surprise). Just wondering if you guys have any thoughts on this. Thanks

turn you key on and off I think 3 times and down where the miles are should give you a code then go from there or go to the dealer and have them hook it up to the puter, It could be any thing I forgot to plug in my air temp sensor and it set the light off

Well, thanks to this GREAT page, I think the code means- P0514 Battery Temperature Sensor Performance / Rationality. Is there a battery temp. sensor on these trucks? If so, how do you fix it and clear the code. It has been very cold here. Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

My 2005 has coded the same twice already with only 1300 miles. Your dealer can reset it in a minute with the hand held computor. Per the tech at my local dealer this has been a common problem on 3rd gen trucks. He was told dodge is working on a code fix for this just not out yet.

I took the truck to the dealer today. Edgemann, you were right. My guy said the same thing. It so happens that the district service manager was in today. The tech asked him about it. He said that Cummins is aware of it, and they are working on a way to correct it. It was a false code that seems to be popping up in the cold weather. I also had the high idle feature activated. Very cool!

Cold problems = Engine light

I had the same problem. I thru three codes 2 weeks ago. I thru 2127,2127 and anouther, all cold weather related. One was the battery sensor, one thottle pedal position sensor and don't remeber the other. The throttle pedal one had to do with the high idle, my high idle was set to idle up to 1500 RPM and I think that it is only to go to 1350 RPM's. Dealer reset all but reset the high idle feature to go to 1500 RPM and I thru a code the other day 2127, who would have thought. So I will see where to go. I live in Alaska and the morning of the first problem was -22, yes -22. Truck started up and ran fine.
